  1. Works on medium length thick 3b hair!

Posted by Gloria on 4th May 2013

I have rather thick 3b hair that reaches to my bra strap when stretched. Due to its length and weight, the curls tend to stretch and deform. I am now using KCCC, in combination with KCKT, and it really makes my botticelli curls pop, in spite of the length. Frizz is really reduced as well. I get second day hair if I wrap my hair well during the night.
I have to admit that I still haven't perfected the application technique, as sometimes I over/under-apply. I divide my hair into 4 sections, then just dip my fingers in the jar, and spread the gel all over the section. Afterwards, I scrunch up my hair to encourage curl formation. It's not so easy to determine the optimal quantity of gel to apply, but once you do, the results are pretty amazing.
I leave it to dry naturally (takes about 3 hours), and scrunch out the crunch if necessary.
It does have a rather hefty price tag, but I will probably buy again because ever since I've grown my hair long, I have not found another product that works so nicely on my hair.

  2. Love it!

Posted by Melissa Campbell on 15th Apr 2013

I honestly couldn't live without this stuff! It makes my curls bouncy, without any crunch, and I try other products but I always end up back with this, because no other product provides me with the definition I want, also the jar lasts for ages, because a little goes a long way, I use it on top of shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie and I get perfect frizz free curls every time!

  3. Itchy scalp and sticky curls

Posted by Stelle on 4th Jan 2013

I have fine, porous, fractal coily hair prob 3b/c, this made my scalp itch and my curls sticky, I gave it one star because it did provide definition.

  4. Strange product but it does work

Posted by Unknown on 11th Nov 2012

I have thick 3b coarse, very dry hair. With Mop curl cream (my favourite) and Boots Curl Creme both disappearing from the market lately I've been forced to try other things, and have been getting a bit desperate as I've not found anything silicone free with sufficient hold and frizz calming properties. I co-washed, put some leave in conditioner in my hair, and then used KCCC and left to dry naturally. As it was a thin gel type texture I actually didn't expect it to work, but it has dried with remarkably good hold, no frizz, and curl definition. It does dry crunchy and you have to scrunch that out, but I don't mind that (in fact the crunchy products tend to work for me). I'm not that mad on custardy smell of the product, and nor am I keen on the price which really is a bit high. But given that I have no other decent options available, I can see myself sticking to this until the Mop cream reappears (if it ever does!).

  5. Doesn't work for 4c hair

Posted by Bella on 18th Oct 2012

Didn't work for my type 4c hair, even with the knot today leave in it took ages to dry and my hair was coily and dry. No shine absolutely nothing!! Please people 4c type hair do not waste your money. Not worth it. :(

  6. Doesn't work for me

    Posted by Glitter1007 on 19th Sep 2012

This takes ages to dry and leaves my hair feeling dry and frizzy. I bought it based on so many rave reviews. I much much prefer coffee coco creme.

  7. Not that impressed

Posted by Sandy-Jay Hillingdon on 11th Sep 2012

Bought this product a while ago and only just started using it (only once in fact)My daughters have also used it. We all experienced lots of shrinkage, took an age to dry-wasn't keen on the texture of my hair the day after. I dont think anything's particularly wrong with the product, I just dont think it's right for my hair. An expensive mistake unfortunately.

  8. Very drying product.

Posted by Unknown on 31st Jul 2012

I would use this after using the Kinky Curly Knot Today. My hair would feel great after conditioning with Knot Today, but by the time the Curling Custard had dried, my hair had great volume but was completely lacking any moisture!

  9. Does not work well on 4+ hair types.

Posted by Kevvy on 10th Jun 2012

Had high hopes for this product, but it did not work well on my hair. It took very long to dry... Verry long and caused my hair to shrink a lot. And also left a lot of residue in my hair. Even when it did dry my hair was sticky.

  10. Great for summer

Posted by grace on 29th May 2012

I tried this on a warm saturday morning and - having read reviews saying that it takes forever to dry - I washed with Come Clean, added KCKT and then KCCC, and then went out on my bike in the park to dry my hair in the mid-morning sunshine - ok not everyone can do this every day but if you have the option it's great - my hair was washed, styled and wearably dry (80%) in two hours. My hair was shiny, defined and CRUNCHY! When it was fully dry I used frizz-ease serum plus a drop of oil to scrunch and smooth, and the hair was not only touchable and soft, but also remained respectably cute after jumping twice into a lake. Initially I was reluctant to spend so much but this stuff works for me. My hair is fine, big and mixed 3-ish 4-ish curls. If I can get it to work with a cheaper leave-in than the Knot Today I will be totally satisfied

  11. THE BEST CURL DEFINITION I HAVE EVER HAD!

Posted by Roch on 18th May 2012

I used this to do a wet twist out. It gave me excellent curl definition i loved it! got a lot of comliments on my hair! The only problem is that it was quite gluey i dont know if it was due to the amount i used. Also it takes long to dry and i had to use a dryer. I will deffo buy it again! im going to try it on a wash and go

  12. Works just as well for "type 4b/c" hair

Posted by Marcia on 8th Mar 2012

I followed the instructions to the letter and from reading previous comments on various websites about not using too much, as it makes the hair crunchy I was very wary of this. I kept a spray bottle of water handy making sure every section was soaking wet before applying the product. Yes, it takes a while to dry but still looks great wet. I say just follow the instructions for your hair type. Transformed my TWA to a headful of cute curls!!

  13. Great elongated frizz free curls-My best kept secret

Posted by Lara on 13th Feb 2012

KC Culing custard is the only product that tames the frizz of my 3a wavy/curly hair and maintains elongation as long as I don't scrunch....as recommended in many curl videos...instead I use the tangle teezer or brush to elongage my curls first and then put 1 teaspoon of KCCC rubbed into my hands first, on top of my entire head, especially my edges.

The result: Elongation is kept through most of the day. Best of all: SHINE (finally!) and zero frizz and compliments from random people all day.

  14. Need a leave in under for moisture

Posted by Unknown on 8th Feb 2012

Perfect product! But I suggest following directions when using this. I find that unlike other products, it's really important to actually go through the steps to get the great results.

    My tricks:
    1) Moisture under the custard is an absolute must. So either use water or even better, a very light leave-in. Using a conditioner has not worked for me...too heavy. Using it on dry hair...does not seem to work either.

2)For second or third day hair, the custard does not have the same effect, unless I REWET hair because again, moisture (either water or a leave-in) is needed under this product. Caveat: Hair should not be wet but DAMP (excess water removed) or it will take forever to dry). I use a SPRAY BOTTLE.

3)I only use a coin size and gloss it over the hair. Usually I have to use 10 times what's recommended for a product. Not true with this one.

    4) great hold for hair types like 3a-c.

...And I love that the product does not leave flakes or reside. I love the smell and that it's so natural! Despite the price, I will not go back to any gel with alcohol, bad oils like mineral oil, etc...

  15. Best on the Market, Search is over!

Posted by Jen on 8th Feb 2012

This product was so popular, I did not want to join a trend. But after trying the entire Curls line and even Darcy's jelly (a brand I love) and Hairveda's jelly....I finally came to the world of Kinky Kurly. There is no better custard on the market. I use either Darcy's Daily leave in or the Knot today under it. I prefer Darcy's. I use any shampoo, recently, Herbal Essence Hello Hydration. The custard is what makes the difference. Defined beautiful shiny curls for my daughter's lovely 3a hair. She gets compliments all the time from schoolmates and teachers.

  16. rubbish

Posted by Unknown on 15th Jan 2012

This product was such a waste.

  17. Really impressed!

Posted by xxtinker on 15th Jan 2012

I've been wanting to try this for a while now, and am glad I did! It's an alternative to Mixed Chicks, which I now boycott. I find it gives much better hold for my hair, which ranges from 2c to 3c and is fine and dry. The first time I used it I went a bit overboard and used too much so am just working on getting it right; but I am now converted to KCCC! I like that it's reactivated by water and also use the KCSS along with it. From the reviews I've read it seems to work better with looser curl types (3s).

  18. Useless!

Posted by Shafted on 14th Dec 2011

This product didn't work for me at all.

  19. Very disappointed!

Posted by singing curly on 13th Dec 2011

I've read so many good reviews about this product that I'm terribly disappointed now that I've tried it: it simply does not work for my 3b hair at all. It left it frizzy and dry.A big no no for me I'm afraid...

  20. Works for me!

Posted by Danielle van Holland on 29th Oct 2011

I first read about this on a messageboard then watched a few videos on Youtube. I decided to order and give it a try on my 4a hair.

First of all the delivery to Holland was very quick! I washed my hair then applied the custard with wet hair while combing my hair with a wide tooth comb. I was very happy with the results.

The only reason this did not get five stars was became it did not help prevent shrinkage.I will be ordering this again.
